How this is calculated
Every weekday (Monday through Friday) in the selected month or year counts as a business day by default. Turn on "Also exclude US federal holidays" and any of the 11 recognized federal holidays that fall in that period get subtracted too, computed algorithmically for whatever period you pick, not from a fixed list, so it stays accurate every year. A typical year has around 250 to 252 business days once federal holidays are excluded, the exact figure shifts slightly depending on which weekday January 1st falls on and how many of the 11 holidays land on a weekend that year. Frequently asked questions
How many business days are in a typical month?
Most months have between 20 and 23 business days, before accounting for holidays. The exact number depends on how many days the month has and which weekday it starts on. A 31-day month that starts on a Monday has more business days than one that starts on a Saturday.
Does this include federal holidays?
Only if you check the "Also exclude US federal holidays" box. By default this calculator counts weekdays only, since not every business observes every federal holiday.
How many business days are in a year?

A typical year has around 250 to 252 business days once weekends and the 11 US federal holidays are excluded, or about 260 to 262 counting weekdays only.
